The Worshipful Company of Gardeners
The Worshipful Company of Gardeners offers its members a rich and enjoyable programme of activities, events, and shared experiences that combine learning, socialising, and a passion for horticulture. At its heart, the Company is a friendly and active community where people who care about plants, gardens and the environment come together to share knowledge and enthusiasm.
Members take part in a wide variety of events throughout the year. These include engaging lectures and presentations from leading horticulturists, writers, and experts, delivered both in gardens and online. There are regular visits and trips, ranging from day outings in the UK to beautiful gardens and other areas of horticultural interest to longer overseas visits exploring landscapes and innovative horticultural projects in countries such as the USA, Italy, Sweden and Southern Ireland.

Social occasions are an important and enjoyable part of Company life. Members gather for formal dinners and lunches in historic Livery Halls and in the Mansion House, creating a lively and celebratory atmosphere where friendships are strengthened and experiences are shared. These events provide opportunities to network and enjoy fine food and wines, conversation and the unique traditions of the Company.
In addition to social and educational activities, members are actively involved in various important initiatives. They contribute to projects such as judging “Flowers in the City,” helping to promote green spaces and biodiversity, and participating in the Company’s Schools Outreach programme promoting careers in horticulture. Members also support the valuable work undertaken by the Company’s Charity to promote horticulture in its widest sense.
Overall, being part of the Gardeners’ Company offers a balance of learning, fun activities, networking opportunities and worthwhile contributions to the City, the environment and much else.
