Farmers and land managers can apply for the 2nd wave of funding (pot of £10M) to boost tree planting as part of the Woodland Carbon Guarantee scheme.
The scheme aims to accelerate woodland planting rates and help mitigate the effects of climate change.
Successful applicants will be offered the option to sell Woodland Carbon Units to the government at a guaranteed price (over 35 years).
Deadline to sign-up: 5th June, 2020
Sir William Worsley, Chair of the Forestry Commission, said:
"The Woodland Carbon Guarantee is the first scheme of its kind to provide land managers with long-term certainty of a guaranteed payment rate for carbon, which their trees lock up and store."
