The Lord Mayor gives free organ recital

The Lord Mayor, Alderman Doctor Andrew Parmley, will play the organ on 31st March at St Stephen Walbrook in the fourth of a new series of Free Music Recitals.

The programme, which starts at 5.30pm, includes music by J.S. Bach, William Boyce, Pietro Yon, Henri Mulet, Herbert Howells and Louis-James-Alfred Lefébure-Wely.

Andrew Parmley’s career started as Director of Music at Forest School and he is presently Principal of The Harrodian School in West London. His broad experience in music, education and the creative industries has led to a life of teaching, writing, composing and examining.

Andrew became the Alderman for Vintry Ward in 1992 and, amongst other roles, he has been Chairman of the City of London School for Girls and Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He has been Honorary Organist of St James Garlickhythe for over 35 years. A very active Liveryman, Andrew is a Past Master of the Parish Clerks’, Musicians’ and Glass Sellers’ Companies and is currently Renter Warden of the Vintners’ Company. He is an International Ambassador for the London Symphony Orchestra.

Future recital dates are: 28th April, 26th May, 30th June, 28th July, 29th September and 27th October 2017.
