Design online - say it with plants

July 22nd 2020

The Royal Hospital Chelsea and the Royal Parks Guild, supported by the Gardeners’ Company*, have launched a new, intergenerational initiative called ‘Growing Generations’ in order to underline the importance and benefits of all ages working together and sharing their knowledge, experience and skills.

Using this year’s Growing Generations theme, ‘Say it with Plants’, horticulture apprentices and trainees, along with green-fingered Chelsea Pensioners, will be encouraged to design an imaginative three-dimensional structure featuring plants and decorative items. The whole display has to fit within a 1-metre square container.

This free-to-enter competition is completely virtual and is titled ‘Design Online – Say it with Plants’. Entries will be judged by experts from the horticultural industry.

The best 12 will be invited to construct their designs within the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea during the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2021, when an overall winner will be chosen.

The closing date for the competition is Friday 14th August 2020. To register an interest contact Mike Fitt at competition@trpg.org.uk

*The competition is supported by: the Worshipful Company of Gardeners, Professional Gardeners Guild, Landscape Show, Royal Parks, London In Bloom, Commonwealth War Graves Commission, International Garden Photographer of the Year Competition, London College of Garden Design.
